Bonga Mchunu is The Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA)’s Head of Direct Lending for the Northern Region, which includes Gauteng.
SEFA was formed in 2012 as a result of the merger of South African Micro Apex Fund, Khula Enterprise Finance Ltd and the small business activities of IDC. Its mandate is to foster the establishment, survival and growth of Small Micro and Medium Enterprises.
SEFA offers a wide variety of funding products including short-term working capital loans to businesses that have secured firm contracts and orders from their clients.
SEFA also provides term loans to finance assets that have a medium to long-term lifespan (e.g. machinery, fixtures and fittings, vehicles, office equipment). Term Loans can also be used for start-ups, expansions and acquisitions of other businesses
SEFA supports Cooperatives with start-up business loans, grants and mentorship.
Bonga will mentor entrepreneurs on how to make themselves ‘funding ready’ and best prepare their businesses for a successful fund raising process.
