I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR CLOSES THE YEAR IN JOHANNEBSURG

Thursday, 19 `November 2015

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The final installment of I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR for 2015 takes place in Johannesburg on Saturday, 28th November 2015 with a special focus on the ‘Sephaku Story’.

Join us for a conversation with Dr. Lelau Mohuba, co-founder and CEO of JSE-listed, Sephaku Holdings as he takes us trough the lessons learned, mistakes made, and successes achieved in the creation of the biggest South African challenger in the fiercely competitive sector of Cement production since 1934.

A medical doctor by profession, Dr. Lelau Mohuba co-founded Sephaku Holdings in 2005 with Rudolph de Bruin and David Twist, then a multiple mineral exploration entity. He was its founding Executive Chairman until the listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2009.

Sephaku Cement, South Africa’s newest entrant and producer into the cement industry since 1934, attracted the attention and investment from Africa’s largest cement producer, Nigerian billionaire, Mr Aliko Dangote, who is the current chairman of Sephaku Cement and 64% JV partner through Dangote Cement.

In bringing the Greenfields company to market, the founders navigated financing and development of a R3.2 billion company and projects, during the most intensive global recession in history.

The company’s cement producing facilities at Aganang and Delmas as well as the ash production facility at Eskom’s Kendal Power Station boast best in class power, coal and water consumption establishing a precedent for environmental management.

I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR JOHANNESBURG, featuring CEo and Co-Founder of Sephaku Holdings, Dr. Lelalu Mohuba will be held on Saturday, 28th November 2015 at Jozi Hub, 44 Stanley Ave, Milpark, Johannesburg. Registration starts at 08:00. Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite/ Checkers at R150 each.

Andile Khumalo, CIO of MSG Afrika Group and Founder of MyStartUp and Lynette Ntuli, CEO of Innate Investment Solutions and Founder of Ignite SA will host the programme.

“The Sephaku Story is nothing short of extra-ordinary. The journey undertaken by Dr. Lelau and his partners to establish a multi-billion rand company, especially during a very deep and difficult global economic crisis, is true testament to their resilient entrepreneurial spirit. Add to that Mr Dangote’s investment in Sephaku, you suddenly have a pan-African industrial story that must be told to not only inspire us, but also to teach us how we can better collaborate as African entrepreneurs.” said Khumalo.

I AM AN ENTREPRENEUR is brought to you by MTN Business and Renault SA.
